[Week's Events #13]Enjoyed Foods🎍🥢

Happy New Year! How have you been spending New Year's day?

I spent with my family and relatives this week in my hometown. Then, I ate a lot of delicious foods. I will write about them.

Ozoni
First, I ate Ozoni that is Japanese traditional soup with mochi and eaten for New Year's day. My home's ozoni has mochi, zenmai that is one of wild vegetables, Japanese white radish, carrot, konnyaku and chikuwa. The ozoni's recipe and taste has been passed down for generations. I think the taste and ingredients are differnt in other regions and families, so I'm curious to know waht kind of ozoni is eaten in your homes!

Ikura
Next, I ate salmon roe that is called ikura in Japan many times this week. I like ikura very much but it is expensive, so my mother dosen't usually buy it. However, my father bought a lot of ikura especially for New Year's. Unlike usually ikura of supermarket, each piece of the ikura was large and very delicious! I ate it on rice and made salmon roe rice bowl that is called Ikura Don in Japan. It was delicous that I could eat as much as I wanted.

Wagyu Beef and Sukiyaki
And then, I ate sukiyaki that is a Japanese beef hot pot. Wagyu beef is expensive same as the ikura, so I usually don't buy it. However, I could be given the beef from my aunt who runs buther shop. She often give my family it, so I'm so thankful for her. My mother cooked sukiyaki with it. The beef was big, and its meat fat was delicious!  I could treat myself to the sukiyaki.

I enjoyed eating many foods this week. I spent happy time with them. What foods did you eat for Nea Year's? I wish you have been able to spend quality time during New Year's.

Thank you for reading!
